According to the NMRA constitution there are 6 officers namely Chairperson, Vice-chairperson, Secretary, Vice-secretary, Treasurer and Vice-treasurer. There is an executive committee compromising of not more than 12 members including the officers, though additional members may be co-opted at the discretion of the committee.

Elections are held at each AGM where committee members are elected. Elected officers and committee members retire annually but aare eligible for re-election.

Holding elections regularly gives members a chance to evaluate theoffcicials, meaning they can only be re-elected if they have proved that they can deliver and manage the affairs of the ssociation in the interest of the members. It also gives other members a chance to be elected who may have skills/expertise and new ideas that could be relevant for the association to adopt new ways of doing things. All officers and committee members are unremunerated.
